When conditions on Cedar Lake making fishing difficult, a great option is to travel to Grand Rapids and fish the Saskatchewan River.

When the Hydro Dam is open, allowing cool water into the river, the walleye bite turns on! It is not uncommon to catch limits in less than an hour on choice days!

The favored technique is bottom bouncer and spinners,  just drifting with the current. Drifting is usually best starting at the mouth of the Hydro Dam channel right thru to the bridge, and weather permitting, out into lake Winnipeg.

Footprint Lake is a stocked trout lake, with various sized Rainbow Trout, Tiger Trout, Brown Trout and Brook Trout from fingerling thru full grown 20” plus fish!

Located about two kilometers north of the Cross Bay turn-off to Moak Lodge, Footprint is a small lake which again is a great option when the big lake is unfishable due to weather.

Trolling smaller to medium sized spoons seems to be the preferred method to catch these brutes! Fly fishing has also proven very successful.

The trick here is to change up your lures until you find what they like, best fishing is early spring and late fall when the water temperature is cooler.
